When you publish independently, you learn to appreciate all the little things that go into making sure a book is ready before it goes live. There are times when I both love it and hate it. Honestly, I appreciate the process and am proud of myself for both writing and publishing my works, but there are moments when I either need someone to do it for me (as if I could let that happen) or more time in the day.

In addition to writing, I am a mom and a teacher. I'm currently living the busiest time I encounter all year. Every year, the month of August leaves me feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. The fact that I was able to get The Underground ready to release at this time baffles me, even now when it's already live.

A Little About the Book

I can't say this absolutely until I've finished book 3, but it's possible The Underground may involve my favorite parts of the story. In this book, I intended to bring some reality to the characters who have only known Trinity for most of their lives. There were times when writing this book that I was mad at myself for the things that were happening to the characters, especially Naia. There were times when I was sad for the characters and times I was happy with the way they were developing. There were not, however, times when I questioned whether or not to write the story as I did. I feel confident the story is unfolding as it should, and I believe all the things that happen are as they should be. I hope The Underground will challenge readers to discuss and question their thoughts about the characters. Just know my philosophy on this: some questions can be answered, and others are best left to the imagination.
